The Read For My School competition has begun for children in Years 3-6! Get busy reading, but remember – it’s not a race! Take the time to enjoy each book you read 🙂
To help your child with spelling at home, you might like to try practising the ‘Common exception words’ to be learnt in your child’s year group. You may also want to have a discussion with your child’s class teacher to find out if there are any words in particular your child is having difficulty with.
Year 3 and 4
Year 5 and 6
Following from our year 1 and 2 writing workshops this week, here are the phase 2, 3 and 5 phonics sounds. These are very useful when writing with your child at home, helping them choose the correct sounds when spelling.
Supporting my child with writing – Years 1 and 2
Miss Bryson and Miss Cort are holding parent workshops on 2.12.15 (9:00am for year 1, 2:45 for year 2). The focus of the workshop is to provide information on how to support your KS1 child with writing at home.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, we have attached the booklet from the session below.
Have you read any of them yet?
Stay tuned for book reviews written by readers at Woodmansterne!
We loved spending the whole day developing our speaking and listening skills through No Pens Wednesday! We used role play, discussions and team work to do our learning instead of writing. Look at all the fantastic things we got up to!
