At Woodmansterne, handwriting is taught daily in KS1 and twice weekly in KS2. In EYFS, early handwriting is integrated into the provision.

This year we are aiming to improve the handwriting and presentation across the school and children will be rewarded for their efforts in the following ways:

  • Presentation points – These can be awarded in any area of learning and children can gain Bronze, Silver and Gold awards by accumulating their points. Children can also earn points from Home learning and Dip and Do tasks.

  • Pen License –  When your child’s teacher feels that they are ready and has been consistently producing neat, age appropriate handwriting, they will be able to earn their pen license from Year 2.

To support handwriting at home, encourage your child to produce and present their work (Home learning/Dip and Do activities) to an age appropriate standard.
