Speaking and listening are at the heart of children’s learning.
Children need to be confident communicators and active listeners in order to learn about the world they live in.
It is very important to provide opportunities for your child to be speaking and listening as it has a huge impact on both their reading and writing. If English is not your child’s first language, it is also important that they are able to speak and listen to English outside of school.
At school children are taught to:
- Think about what they say
- Choose the right words
- Listen to others before they speak
- Talk to others
- Share ideas
